Tots, is a movement program for children 18 months to 3 years and their caregiver, designed to promote the development of the whole child socially, emotionally, cognitively and physically through play in a safe, structured multi-sensory environment. The Tots programs encourage trust, co-operation, communication, exploration and discovery, listening skills, sharing and turn taking and most of all fun, fun, fun. Each week the lesson will be based around a new and exciting theme, with plenty of opportunities for the child to work towards improving gross and fine motor skills, spatial awareness, co-ordination and all areas of their social, emotional, cognitive and physical development. Classes also provide parents and caregivers the opportunity to make friends and socialise with other parents and caregivers and the opportunity to spend special one on one time with their child. Classes are fun, playful and challenging and involve a mix of free exploration, guided discovery, and group time. Class duration is 45 minutes.
Mini Movers is a class designed for children aged 4-5 years who will be attending school the following year (we encourage those not yet 4, to start in our Tots program). In line with Kindergym principles, this class continues to address and expand all developmental areas of the child (social, emotional, physical and cognitive). This class is designed to work towards independence, socialisation, following instructions, basic gymnastic skill development, building self-confidence and enjoyment of physical activity. Each class will consist of interactive group time, basic stretches and circuit-based movement pattern & gymnastic based activities. The aim of the class is to give children a fun, basic introduction to gymnastic skills delivered in a friendly, age-appropriate manner. It also aims to develop each individual at their own pace for a wide range of sports and physical activity. Participation in this program will help children learn and develop many skills to help them transition to school and afternoon gymnastics classes! Care givers are welcome to assist with this class or watch as their child starts to develop independence!
GYMFUN (GF) is a Gymnastics Australia (GA) initiative providing young boys and girls the basic building blocks to succeed in more advanced Gymnastics but also developing kids for all future sport and physical activity. This class is designed to work towards independence, socialisation, following instructions, gross motor development, basic gymnastic skill development, building self-confidence and enjoyment of physical activity.
GF is also the perfect class to start in for children with no previous experience as it starts with the most basic shapes and movement patterns and progress through at a rate that suits each child individually. It also acts as an extension to our participants who have already passed through our Kindergym program. GYMFUN is for children in Kindergarten at school.
Each 55-minute-long GYMFUN class will consist of fun and games, basic stretches, and circuit based gymnastic activities. The aim of the class is to give children a fun, basic introduction to gymnastic skills delivered in a friendly, age appropriate manner. Each week the children complete four apparatus circuits, covering all 6 apparatus (Vault, Bars, Beam, Floor, Tumble Track, Tramp) in a fortnight. Circuits are designed to allow children to progress at their own rate, whilst being able to participate with their friends.

GYMSTARS, is specifically designed for our Year 1 kids to aid transition from Gymfun to our Jnr Classses (GYMSKILLS & CLUB LEVELS) or as a new starter class for our kids in Year 1 at school. This class continues to work towards developing independence, socialisation, following instructions, building self confidence and an enjoyment of physical activity. Along with basic gymnastic skill and gross motor development, safe play for the school yard and development for a wide variety of sport.

GYMSKILLS (GS) is a Gymnastics Australia initiative providing children the basic building blocks to succeed in more advanced Gymnastics but also developing kids for all future sport and physical activity. GYMSKILLS is a 1.5hr recreational class for children in Year 2 & 3, developing, body awareness, social skills, creativity and confidence in a fun, challenging and energetic way. GYMSKILLS is a perfect class for a beginner, however, also caters for those with previous gymnastics experience.
Classes aim to foster friendship, fun, creativity, coordination, fitness, flexibility, strength, balance and body & spatial awareness. Participants will learn skills on traditional gymnastics apparatus; vault, bars, beam, floor, tramp and tumble track.

CLUB LEVELS is a fun, recreational class which focuses on teaching technically correct gymnastics for gymnasts who would like to participate in non-competitive gradings and progress through our In-Club Levels program, a modified version of the Gymnastics Australia, Australian Levels Program. The Club Levels program runs in conjunction with our Squad programs, allowing easy transition both directions, for those who want more or less commitment to Routine based gymnastics training.
The start of the term usually focuses on skill development on Vault, Bars, Beam and Floor and the latter end, on learning and perfecting routines to be assessed at a relaxed and enjoyable End of Term Grading Day. BGA is Newcastle's most successful WAG Squad program, with athletes ranging from Level 1-10. As BGA gymnasts progress, they compete with in Club, Region, State, National and International Events allowing a pathway for athletes to follow their dreams from basic competition through to Australian Representation. BGA philosophy is to develop a well rounded, successful individual utilising the sport of gymnastics. Our focus is on creating a positive, safe, fun but challenging and rewarding atmosphere allowing the child to learn, grow and develop in all aspects of their self, namely physical, social, emotional and mental. We desire to foster team work, sportsmanship and respect to all those involved in the sport and believe that success is achieved in the effort and the journey, not in the outcome or result.
