BGA is Newcastle's most successful WAG program, ranging from Level 1-10. As BGA gymnasts progress, they compete with in Club, Region, State, National and International Events allowing a pathway for athletes to follow their dreams from basic competition through to Australian Representation. BGA philosophy is to develop a well rounded, successful individual utilising the sport of gymnastics. Our focus is on creating a positive, safe, fun but challenging and rewarding atmosphere allowing the child to learn, grow and develop in all aspects of their self, namely physical, social, emotional and mental. We desire to foster team work, sportsmanship and respect to all those involved in the sport and believe that success is achieved in the effort and the journey, not in the outcome or result. Squads FOUNDATION - Level 1 and 2 Typically for gymnasts aged between 5-8, BGA development squads focus on physical preparation (shaping, strength, flexibility, posture, body/spatial awareness), creating the ideal building blocks for higher level competitive gymnastics. Basic skills are taught focusing on Ideal Technique, which in future years will allow the gymnast to progress more rapidly without being limited by incorrect basics. Gymnasts in these Squads compete at Club and local Invitationals and are assessed on the Level 1 and 2 Australian Levels Program Skills.
NSW Competitive - Level 3 and 4 Typically for gymnasts aged between 7-10, these squads progress the development gymnast from basic skills taught in development or Regional Levels, to competing the Level 3 and 4 routines at Club, Local, Intrastate and State events.
State /National Competitive - Level 5-7 For gymnasts who have passed successfully through the NSW competitive levels and are starting to develop higher level skills. Gymnasts at this level have the opportunity to trial and compete in NSW Gymnastics State events, Invitationals and National Team events.
State/National Representative - Level 8-10 Gymnasts are now reaching the pinnacle of gymnastics in Australia trialing for NSW State Representative Teams, aiming to compete at the State Border Challenge, Australian Championships, National Club Championships and for Australian Representation at International Events.
